Privacy Policy for Air Quality Index
Our Commitment to Your Privacy
Air Quality Index is designed with privacy as a core principle. This privacy policy explains our approach: we collect zero personal information, track nothing about your usage, and process all data locally on your device.
Privacy Summary
- No personal data collection - We don't collect, store, or transmit any personal information
- No location tracking - The app does not access your device location
- No usage analytics - We don't track how you use the app, what features you use, or any behavior data
- No crash reporting - We don't collect crash reports or error logs
- No advertising - The app contains no ads or ad tracking
- No third-party services - Except for Apple's CloudKit to distribute public air quality data
How the App Works
Air Quality Index displays publicly available air quality data from NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Prediction and EPA's AirNow. Here's how data flows:
- NOAA and EPA publish air quality data publicly
- Apparent Logic's server downloads this public data (no user data involved)
- The data is uploaded to Apple's CloudKit as public records
- Your device downloads these public air quality maps from CloudKit
- All processing and display happens entirely on your device
No personal data is involved in this process. The Apparent Logic server that updates CloudKit collects no analytics and stores no information about users or devices.
Data Stored On Your Device
The app stores the following data locally on your device:
- Downloaded air quality maps (public data from NOAA/EPA)
- Your app preferences and settings
- Cached data to allow offline viewing of previously downloaded maps
This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted anywhere.
Apple CloudKit
The app uses Apple's CloudKit service solely to distribute public air quality data. CloudKit may collect basic technical information according to Apple's privacy policy, but Apparent Logic does not access or use any of this information. The data stored in CloudKit contains only public air quality maps - no user data or personal information.
For more information about Apple's data practices, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
No Analytics or Diagnostics
Unlike most apps, Air Quality Index does not collect any analytics, diagnostics, or usage data. We do not:
- Track which features you use
- Collect crash reports or error logs
- Monitor app performance or usage patterns
- Receive any data from Apple's App Store Connect analytics
- Use any third-party analytics services
Children's Privacy
Because the app collects no personal information whatsoever, it is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
